Whenever the hosts of the
‘Sugod Bahay’ segment of the longest running noontime TV show Eat Bulaga goes
on location in a chosen barangay, subdivision or town anywhere in the country,
residents usually take a peek not just to congratulate the pre-drawn winner of
the segment but to see the celebrities, and also get a chance to play games and
win prizes. On June 16 and July 1, 2016, not just a handful but hundreds of
residents of Barangay 165 in Tondo, Manila and Barangay Palatiw, Pasig City
excitedly dashed to witness that day’s Sugod Bahay since it came with a most
welcome addition: the first-ever Hanabishi Sugod sa Barangay Caravan.
Hanabishi, one of the leading
brands of home products in the Philippines, partnered with Eat Bulaga to bring
the Sugod sa Barangay Caravan to offer up to 25% discount on Hanabishi electric
fans, refrigerators, LED TVs, food mixers, ovens, air coolers and more. The
brand is known for its quality yet very affordable products that practical
Filipinos love.
For one whole day, Hanabishi
products were available for purchase in the booth they set up at the corner of
Solis Street and Dagupan Extension.
Barangay 165 resident
Honeylet Villafuerte bought a Hanabishi 32” LED TV and brought some members of
her family along. “Okay yung ganitong caravan. Kung tutuusin may TV kami, pero
[dahil] talagang mura [dito] kaya bumili kami. Sulit eh,” said Villafuerte.
(This caravan is good for us. We already have a TV set but this was really
affordable so we bought one. It’s really worth it.)
While Villafuerte was
celebrating the good deal she found, her neighbors and friends from nearby
barangays were both marveling at their good finds as well as being generously
entertained, as the caravan also featured a short program with games, dance and
song numbers and other surprises. The company, which has been a partner of Eat
Bulaga for almost five years now and has been sponsoring some of its major
segments including the Sugod Bahay segment, also gave away Hanabishi products
as prizes for the games.
Hanabishi
President Jasper Ong said, “We have always envisioned Hanabishi to be present
in every Filipino household. Synergizing this activity with our partnership with
Eat Bulaga brings us closer to even more Filipino families. Not only do we
offer our products at incredibly lower prices during the caravan, we also seek
to entertain the people by hosting a simple program and coming up with games.
It was overwhelming because people were so welcoming and participative during
the first leg of the caravan. We encourage all the practical ‘nanays’ and ‘bossings’
to grab this opportunity and catch us as we bring the Hanabishi Sugod sa
Barangay Caravan to more barangays in the country.”
The next Hanabishi
Sugod sa Barangay Caravan will be on July 30, and August 15. For more details
