New Delhi Hosts The World Culture Festival

The Art of Living, a global movement founded by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, has announced the dates for the World Culture Festival. To be held between March 11-13, 2016, the festival will bring together people from different cultures, nations and faiths as a One World Family in a resounding message of peace.

‘World Culture Festival' (WCF) is expected to host millions of people from over 155 countries in New Delhi. The event is supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Tourism and the Government of India.

Speaking on this grand celebration, World Culture Festival 2016, Art of Living founder, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said, "We are a part of one humanity and we express ourselves differently through music, art and food. Celebrating our diverse cultures binds us together and expands our perspectives. The World Culture Festival emphasizes on co-existence, demonstrating the power of peace by bringing millions of people together. It is an opportunity for world leaders from cultural, social, political, business fields to come together to  rekindle human values in the pursuit of happiness and peace."

The 3-day grand festival will have a massive 7-acre stage to seat thousands of artists, dignitaries and guests with an objective to bring a wide variety of music, dance and other art forms from India and across the globe on one platform and keep it alive for future generations. On all three days of the festival, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar will lead a ‘Peace Meditation’ which would be joined by millions from across the globe.

Many eminent guests and global leaders from diverse fields and nationalities have confirmed their presence for the global event. The Philippine chapter of Art of Living is working on sending a troop of over 100 dancers from Tacloban to represent the country on this Global stage. The chapter is looking for sponsors and donors who would like to contribute and make it possible for the Buyogan Festival cultural performers to travel to India. It would be a shining moment for Tacloban – an area than has reeled in challenges in the aftermath of Typhoon Yolanda.

The Many Health Benefits Of Being In Love

Are you in love and in a healthy romantic relationship with someone? If yes, consider yourself blessed! Beyond the obvious advantage of having a date for Valentine’s Day, love can also do wonders for your physical, emotional and mental health.

“Apart from keeping you inspired, love can also help you live longer in many ways. The list of its health perks includes lowering your stress hormones, boosting your immune system and preventing you from developing many diseases, like depression and heart disease,” says Dr. Nicky Montoya, president of MediCard Philippines.

Love can lower your risk for many diseases. When you’re in a healthy and intimate relationship with someone, you experience less stress, which in turn improves your cardiovascular health. Various studies also reveal that people in a committed and long-term relationship live longer than their single counterparts. Additionally, they experience fewer heart attacks, have lower cancer rates, and get pneumonia less frequently. Men in particular are more likely to give up smoking and alcohol abuse when they marry.

Love can boost your immune system. A study from the University of Iowa claimed that ovarian cancer patients with a strong sense of connection to others and satisfying relationships developed more white blood cells that kill cancerous cells compared to those without social ties. A separate study from eHarmony Labs also revealed that happy couples who engage in positive conflict resolution have higher functioning immune systems than those who retreat from the conversation or stonewall each other.

Love can reduce your pain. The saying, “love heals pain,” is not just a metaphor. Researchers who studied a group of people exposed to electrical shocks found out that holding someone’s hand can ameliorate the pain and the perception of pain. The married females in the study decreased their feeling of pain even more when they held their husband’s hands.

Love can regulate your menstrual cycle. If you are suffering from chronic painful periods, it may be the time to ditch the painkiller and get a warm body to cuddle. A study from Planned Parenthood revealed that women who have sex at least once a week have higher levels of estrogen and are more likely to have regular menstrual cycles than those who have sex less frequently.

Love can keep your skin glowing. The healthy glow of love has a scientific explanation. When you have a happy love life, your stress levels are lower. In turn, your body produces less stress hormones, which could trigger nasty pimple and acne breakouts.

Love can help improve your mental functioning. Ever wonder why people who are in love are more lively and productive? It’s because love gives them a rush of dopamine, a neurotransmitter associated with optimism, energy and a sense of well-being. A study from Rutgers University found out that people who simply look at the photo of their loved one had an increase in dopamine activity. Talk about high on love!

“As high stress levels are the primary causes of many chronic diseases, it makes sense that those who are in love are healthier and are more likely to live longer simply because they are happier and more satisfied with their lives. That’s why it’s healthy to fall in love and have someone love you back,” says Dr. Montoya.

Doug Kramer's Surprise To Wife Cheska For Valentine's Day

The sweetest surprises come in the most unexpected circumstances.

Doug Kramer—a player in the Philippine Basketball Association who is known as GlobalPort Batang Pier’s power forward—revealed last January 31, 2016 his biggest surprise yet for his wife, Cheska Garcia-Kramer

Cheska is a known actress, social media icon and mother to Kendra, Scarlet and Gavin. The family is widely known in the country as ‘Team Kramer.’

According to Ned Bandojo, Head of Marketing of Red Ribbon, Doug took his Valentine’s Day surprise to Cheska to new romantic heights by proclaiming his love for his wife via a 40 by 60 ft billboard along C5 Bagong Ilog Bridge in Pasig City.

“Doug found a very unusual way of showing his love for Cheska, and it is something beyond imaginable,” Bandojo said. “We, his Red Ribbon family, are really glad to be part of Doug’s pre-Valentine’s Day surprise to Cheska because this only shows how the brand complements Valentine’s.  We hope that, together with our Valentine’s Black Forest cake, we were able to bring in more sweetness to their relationship and to the whole family as well.”
