Hanabishi Donated Appliances To Tacloban Schools



In late 2013, the calamity ravaged not just thousands of homes but also hundreds of commercial establishments, infrastructure and institutions including local schools. This left many students, like those who used to go to some of the schools within or in nearby barangays which have not yet been rebuilt, to attend classes in makeshift rooms made from a patchwork of fragile wood and roof for almost three years. With their eagerness to continue studying despite the situation, KVIS proves to be heaven-sent, especially as it is within the village where most of the students’ families have also been relocated.



Hanabishi, the number one home-grown appliance brand in the country, donated appliances to furnish the new school built by the GMAKF in the GMA Kapuso Village in the barangay. The donations, which will benefit at least 400 students from Kindergarten to grade six, included ceiling fans, water dispensers, and stand fans, among others. This effort is a part of Hanabishi’s pledge to extend 1M worth of appliances for the communities in Tacloban affected by the Typhoon Yolanda.

Hanabishi has been a partner of GMA Kapuso Foundation since 2012 and has already provided complete sets of home appliances for 200 houses in the Kapuso Village in Iligan and 600 houses in Leyte and Tacloban.

 

Nick Takes Over Your School 2016



Class bells ring for an incredibly fun break as Nick Takes Over Your School rolls out again for its 13th year in the Philippines. This time, kids and family entertainment brand Nickelodeon, is bringing a different learning experience to kids in schools, in the form of interactive activities and games and a boost to their self-esteem with the theme, “Shout It Out Proud.” Over 10,000 kids in 20 schools in the Metro and Greater Metro Manila areas are expected to participate in the initiative which runs throughout August and September.

Nickelodeon holds the annual Nick Takes Over Your School program to inject play into learning through physical and mental challenges that promote sportsmanship and team spirit, along with a good dose of its signature green slime that is Nickelodeon’s badge of honor.

This year, Nick Takes Over Your School tackles the relevance of instilling self-confidence in kids with “Shout It Out Proud,” which inspires kids to embrace their individuality. It is on a mission to rouse kids to find their inner voice that’s raring to shout out some self-love!

Nick Takes Over Your School will be bringing a half-day packed with fun-tertainment activities to kids. There will be exciting booth activities from Nickelodeon’s partners, as well as visits from everyone’s favorite Nickelodeon characters such as SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star.

At Nick Takes Over Your School’s first stop, kids didn’t hold back from shouting out what makes them unique individuals. Among all the kids having a well-deserved day of fun was Xavier Alejandrino, a 10-year-old Nickster who couldn’t help but express his excitement.

“I am weird and mysterious and I’m happy to share that I am like this, because I can comfortably do what I want to do,” said Alejandrino. He added that he finds inspiration to be comfortable with who he is by watching the aspirational and unique lead characters in Nickelodeon’s shows such as Henry Danger and The FairlyOdd Parents.

Kids can expect school to be more awesome when Nickelodeon takes over their school. They will get to play fun games, and develop vital skills and a love for life-long learning, as they vie for the ultimate reward, Nickelodeon’s iconic slime!

Largest Serving of Sautéed Mushrooms Set By JOLLY At HistoryCon 2016



Throughout history, mushrooms have been part of the human diet and are renowned for their healing and nutritional attributes. Today, this versatile “vegetable” will aspire for a historic culinary feat for the Philippines. JOLLY, the country’s No. 1 mushroom brand, will attempt to make history for the largest serving of sautéed mushrooms at the biggest entertainment convention of the year, History Con, last August 27, 2016 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.




In partnership with History Channel, the stage was all set for JOLLY’s first world-record bid to cook the largest serving of sautéed mushrooms.   The largest serving of the dish used more than 300kilos of Jolly Mushroom and fired up 10 cooking stations manned by 70 students chef from the Center for Culinary Arts Manila, Far Eastern University and La Consolacion Tanauan and Manila campuses. The tedious process took two hours of non-stop cooking; and after all the hard work of the young chefs, the cheering crowd went wild as the final mushroom dish output was poured into the weighing device and showed a total of 342 kilos, exceeding the minimum requirement of only 300 kilograms. The JOLLY team, led by Executive Chef Winston Luna of Chefwix Catering Services, was applauded for their hard-earned victory.



“We’ve been cooking a large number for banquets but for this endeavor it’s different. Using the recipe designed by Chef Mitchie Sison, we used mushroom as main ingredient, which is very versatile and is also a wonderful substitute to the usual meat that we usually have. We used sauté because it is the best-tasting way to present the mushroom. We really want the mushrooms to be the superstar for this particular dish,” said Chef Winston.  

As one of History Con’s headliner event, JOLLY’s record-setting attempt was just one of the reasons that emphasizes the brand’s mission to elevate and promote mushrooms’ versatility and nutritional benefits on a national and global scale. 

“History-making has never tasted this healthy and delicious. JOLLY and Fly Ace Corporation, together with our our event partners, are extremely honored to initiate this ground-breaking attempt. We are hoping to set a first world record, and of course to successfully spread the news of mushrooms’ health benefits all over the Philippines and the world,” said Fly Ace Corporation President, Jun Cochanco. 

The giant tub of sautéed mushrooms was later presented at the main stage and was served as a mushroom wrap, which is another way of presenting the mushroom, or served as rice to go with each mushroom serving to the delight of thousands of event participants who queued to taste.
