World Famous Humanitarian Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Visits The Philippines

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar with the kids

World-renowned humanitarian, spiritual leader and ambassador of peace Sri Sri Ravi Shanka will be here in Manila this coming April 8 as he ends his Asian tour.

Sri Sri Ravi Shanka is the founder of The Art of Living Foundation which teaches its members the art of managing the mind and negative emotions to be able to live healthy and happy lives.

The Art of Living's programs include breathing techniques, Yoga, Meditation and simple yet profound life guiding principles. The core technique known as the Sudarshan Kriya, is a powerful and revitalizing breathing technique scientifically proven to be beneficial for the mind and body. Art of Living’s global website, http://www.artofliving.org, states that “Sudarshan Kriya incorporates specific natural rhythms of the breath which harmonize the body, mind and emotions,” It has been proven to be very effective in managing stress, fatigue and negative emotions such as anger, frustration and depression.

In the Philippines, the service arm of the Art of Living deploys volunteers and teachers to conduct workshops free of charge to various sectors of society. One such workshop, BeST (Breath & Sound Therapy) is for marginalized, depressed or traumatized people and communities including victims of calamities in the wake of Typhoon Yolanda and Ondoy. The BeST program is effective regardless of the number of participants, making it recognized by other NGO’s as an effective psychosocial remedy to address deep trauma in large communities where one-on-one sessions are impractical and costly.

On April 8, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar will be at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City for a speaking engagement.

Tickets are available at Php 300 and P100 for Students, seniors, teachers, NGO workers, Gov. Employees. Group rates are also available. Taking the solar system as a theme this year to highlight its phenomenally out of this world setup and influence, Pasiklaban sa Paaralan is a testament to the commitment of its organizer Diwa Learning Systems Inc, the country’s leading provider of print and digital educational resources, to innovation. “Since it took off 14 years ago, long before the K-to-12 Program and when pen and paper was its primary competition tool, Pasiklaban already saw how important it is for students to have a fun learning environment that allows them to think critically and to develop their collaboration skill,” said Diwa Executive Vice President Elma Ropeta while explaining Pasiklaban’s strong appeal in attracting the participation of schools across the country.

From 2009 to 2015 alone, Pasiklaban has been to more than 300 locations, has visited more than 3000 schools, and has attracted the participation of more than 6000 students. Where Pasiklaban is going next is something that should excite us – both in terms of location and technology. As Pasiklaban is getting ready for its 15th anniversary, we too should start getting all hyped up for the surprises the original, unequalled mobile quiz show will unleash on its SY 2015-2016 kickoff at SmartKids Asia Philippines this August.

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Fosters Volunteerism and Social Responsibility

CBTL is more than what you see on their coffee shop. Though most of us will agree that they have been successful in providing the best cakes, coffee and tea in town, PLUS we love the comfy seats in their shops, CBTL had been working mostly on their social and charitable campaigns over the years.

Here are some of their most successful campaigns over the years:

Give In To Giving, 12 Cups with The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® campaign
Customers were asked to collect 12 stamps and choose from any of the 12 advocacies and organizations that The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf was supporting. These ranged from women’s groups, to children, animals, the environment, indigenous people or those with disabilities and illnesses. Completing all 12 stamps meant the customer could bring home the commemorative notebook that featured artworks from contemporary Filipino artists and proceeds collected went to each customer’s chosen organization. The original artworks featured in the covers of the Commemorative Notebook were also auctioned and were donated to the charities.

24 Cups of Goodwill
Proceeds from the campaign were given to its 24 partner organizations. In 2010, for Changing Lives with Every Cup, they shifted their focus on sending scholars to school by partnering with Real Life Foundation and their Adopt-a-Scholar program, where the company was successfully able to send 8 scholars to university.

 iBuild campaign
Helped raise sustainable housing solutions for impoverished families
Brew Your Best Year campaign
Encouraged their loyal patrons by helping them give back to themselves as well. Through this initiative, they hope to help each person in their journey towards becoming the best version of themselves.
Paint the Town Red this Valentines
Volunteers spent the day of love giving love to children with disabilities at AIME home via a t-shirt painting activity with the intent of giving kids something that they will always remember.
