Kwentong Jollibee “Biyahe” Pays Tribute To Grandparents’ Hard Work, Sacrifices

This Grandparents’ Day, Jollibee pays homage to the endless sacrifices and selfless love demonstrated by hardworking lolos and lolas(grandparents) in “Biyahe,” the latest video installment in the award-winning Kwentong Jollibee series done in partnership with creative agency McCann World Group Philippines.

Directed by Pepe Diokno, “Biyahe” tells the story of how a grandfather readily took on the responsibility of earning a living for his son and grandson, despite being burdened by the difficulties of driving a jeepney at an old age.

“Nowadays, we see lolos and lolas still earning a living and helping provide for the needs of the household instead of just taking care of their apos or enjoying their sunset years. In the face of everyday challenges, their unique love for their families gives them renewed strength and determination to work harder. This is what we want the younger generation to appreciate in their grandparents and even the hardworking senior citizens we interact with in our daily lives,” said Francis Flores, Jollibee Brand Chief Marketing Officer.

Despite their old age and frail health, more than 3 million elderly people aged 65 years old and above have chosen to forego a well-deserved retirement, joining millions of Filipinos in the informal labor sector who take on menial jobs just to make ends meet for their struggling families – based on a January 2018 labor force survey by the Philippine Statistics Authority.
